Why Choose Us
Why Consider Treatment at Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital in Valdosta, GA
Without professional care at a treatment center, those battling adjustment disorder are likely to experience numerus adverse effects as a result. Occupational responsibilities may go unfulfilled, duties at home can become neglected, and relationships with friends and family members may begin to suffer as well. Additionally, a person battling untreated adjustment disorder may turn to the abuse of substances to cope with his or her emotional distress, and it is possible for someone with adjustment disorder to eventually experience symptoms synonymous with other mental illnesses. For these reasons, and more, it is important to seek proper professional care if the symptoms of this disorder become apparent.

Treatment Options
Treatment Options Offered at Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital
Upon arriving at Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital, each client will participate in a comprehensive assessment in order to provide our staff with all of the information necessary to determine his or her exact treatment needs. Once the evaluation is complete, it will be reviewed by one of our psychiatrists in order to determine the appropriate level of care and to confirm admission. Our approach to treatment is client-centered, and all of our treatment is designed to meet the individual needs of our clients through a compassionate therapy model that is led by a team of highly trained psychiatrists and mental health professionals. Some of the treatment methods that we use at Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital include:
Medication management: In many cases, medication is used to help alleviate some of the specific symptoms of adjustment disorder. It may also be used to treat any co-occurring disorders that may exist. Clients who are prescribed medication will meet with a psychiatrist daily in order to ensure the therapeutic effectiveness of the medication, as well as to make any changes that may be necessary.
Individual therapy sessions at our treatment center are held on an as-needed basis and are meant to be a time where clients can meet privately with a therapist in order to learn how to cope with the symptoms of adjustment disorder and work towards developing coping skills and the other tools they need to help control their thoughts and regulate their emotions.
Group therapy sessions are held four times each day at our adjustment disorder hospital and cover a wide variety of topics. Some of the major topics that are discussed during these group sessions include anger management, stress management, and learning how to effectively express emotions and develop appropriate communication and life skills.
Family therapy sessions are held on an as-needed basis at our treatment center with the amount being increased or decreased depending upon the client’s individual treatment plan. Additionally, we offer educational sessions to the family members of our clients in order to help them learn more about adjustment disorder and guide them in how they can best support their loved one.
Recreational therapy is held once a day and is a time where individuals are provided with the opportunity to participate in physical activities such as playing tennis and basketball or using our pool and gym facilities.
At our adjustment disorder treatment center, we pride ourselves in the fact that we have working relationships with providers outside of our hospital. We allow outpatient therapists to come in and meet with their clients while being treated in our hospital, adding to the comfort level that we strive to provide for our clients.
Depending upon one’s specific treatment plan, A.A. and N.A. meetings are offered once per week.
Continuing Care
Continuing Care and Levels of Treatment
At Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital, we are proud to offer a variety of levels of care for our clients so that we are able to meet their ongoing needs. As discharge approaches, you will work closely with your treatment team to create an aftercare plan that assists you in sustaining lifelong recovery. We offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults that meets four hours per day. This outpatient service is designed to allow you to slowly reintegrate back into your regular life while continuing to work on healing. Some clients find that they have made enough progress through our inpatient services that they are able to return home with referrals to outpatient therapy and/or available community resources in Valdosta. Additionally, we offer an aftercare program every Thursday that is designed specifically to check in on clients who have been discharged from our programs.
