Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital, located in Valdosta, Georgia, provides premier outpatient services for adults age 18 and older. In our adult intensive outpatient program (IOP), we help individuals who are struggling with substance use disorders and behavioral health concerns get on a path to better health.
Benefits of an Adult Intensive Outpatient Program
Our intensive outpatient program is designed to help people achieve better functioning in their daily lives. While the IOP can be an ideal option for individuals who are stepping down from a higher level of care, we also welcome those who have not completed prior programming. The IOP can be a beneficial program for those who do not need inpatient care but require more intensive services than traditional outpatient programs offer.
An intensive outpatient program offers many benefits, one of which is a flexible schedule. For many people, live-in care may not be a feasible option due to work, family, or community obligations. However, when someone participates in an IOP, they can receive the care they need without leaving their responsibilities behind for an extended period of time. Adults in our IOP can receive supportive services while maintaining the freedom to engage in their regular daily activities.
Patients in our IOP receive care three days a week for three hours each day. They attend programming Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Generally, patients participate in the IOP for four to six weeks, but each person’s program duration is determined on an individual basis.
Though our IOP is a less restrictive program, it still offers a secure environment where adults who are struggling with behavioral health concerns, including depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, and suicidal ideation, can make strides toward wellness. We also provide superior substance use disorder treatment in the IOP for those who are living with chemical dependency.
Ideally, those who participate in intensive outpatient program services have a safe home environment that they can return to each day. Having a supportive network of loved ones can significantly improve program outcomes.
In our reputable intensive outpatient program, adults can gain the skills they need to live more productive lives.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Programming Options
Our team recognizes that, unfortunately, there can be many barriers to receiving care. If transportation issues, lack of child care, or other challenges are keeping you from seeking behavioral health and addiction treatment services, we can help you find flexible care that meets your needs. In our IOP, we are proud to offer telehealth options to support those who may prefer online programming.
Patients who participate in our virtual services can expect to receive the same exceptional quality of individualized care that is delivered in our in-person program. In the virtual IOP, each patient’s experience begins with a thorough online assessment. With the information we gather from your initial evaluation, our staff can identify telehealth services that can offer the support you need.
Our virtual IOP services, which are delivered through video chat, allow patients to engage in therapy from the comfort of their own homes. Patients in the virtual IOP can stay connected with supportive professionals using a simple, secure link.

Evening IOP
For patients who need flexibility to accommodate their daily schedules, we offer an evening IOP option. These groups take place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 5-8 p.m.
Continued Care After Our Adult IOP
At Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital, we are committed to promoting the long-term success of our patients. Each person in the IOP receives a detailed aftercare plan that is highly customized.
We begin the discharge planning process on the first day of programming with a preliminary plan for outpatient care, living, and transportation. Each person’s aftercare plan is adjusted along the way to reflect their progress in the program.
Our team will consider your unique circumstances and recommend the services we believe will be most beneficial to your long-term success. Aftercare plans at the IOP level may include referrals to follow-up therapy services and local support groups, as well as other resources that promote wellness.
In most cases, patients are referred back to their outpatient provider for continuing care after they complete the IOP. If a patient does not have a regular outpatient provider, we can make a vetted referral.
When you complete our Valdosta intensive outpatient program, we will strive to help you make a seamless transition to the next phase of your healing journey. To learn more about our IOP services in southern Georgia, please reach out to our team today.
